THE ROTEC MEASUREMENT BOARDS

The modern and flexible ROTEC measurement systems currently support six different types of measurement boards. Depending on the application the customer may choose which measurement boards are required.

The following ROTEC measurement boards are currently available:

Master Card as Trigger Board

The master card of RAS delta is a successor of the trigger board of the FireWire RAS systems. It serves the same purpose of synchronizing measurement data between different channels, acquisition modules and synchronized front-ends. Thus it is required once per system or cluster.

  • Trigger input 8-pin Lemo compatible to RAS FireWire series
  • Variable trigger levels 0.3 Volt to 4.5 Volt
  • Trigger on falling or rising edge
  • Two digital TTL output channels (load resistance ≥ 50 Ohm)
  • One analogue output channel (+/-10 Volt, 1 MHz DAC;  
    12 bit; load resistance ≥ 50 Ohm)
  • Power supply for external electronics
    - + 5 Volt and + 12 Volt  
    - 5 Watt per voltage  
    - Short circuit protected



Speed Board 12 GHz

The speed board for rotational speed measurements is the heart of the ROTEC system and the resulting data is the base for any analysis of either speed or analogue data. It is an enhanced version of the 10 GHz speed card with higher clock speed, an internal decimator, flexible trigger settings, higher pulse rate and higher bandwidth.

  • 2-channel speed board with 12.3 GHz resolution
  • 8 pin LEMO connector compatible to RAS FireWire series
  • Input channels galvanically isolated
  • Maximum (output) pulse frequency
    - 1 MHz per channel
    - 2 MHz when using only one channel
  • Maximum input frequency 20 MHz
  • Internal pulse divider (optional / required, if > 1 MHz)
  • Variable trigger levels from 0.3 Volt to 4.5 Volt
  • Trigger on falling, rising or both edges
  • Power supply for external electronics:
    - + 5 Volt and + 12 Volt
    - 5 Watt per channel
    - Short circuit protected
  • Measurement modes: speed, frequency, duty cycle or on/off-ratio


Analogue Board 50 kHz

This 3-channel analogue measurement board has differential inputs, high signal to noise ratio, 24-bit resolution, flexible preamplifier and various input ranges. Channels are galvanically isolated from each other and from the mainframe.

  • Galvanic isolation between each channel and the front-end chassis
  • Fast 24 bit SigmaDelta ADC
  • 50 kHz sampling frequency per channel

Analogue Board 3.2 MHz

This 2-channel analogue measurement board has differential inputs, high signal to noise ratio, 16-bit resolution, three input ranges. Channels are galvanically isolated from each other and from the mainframe.

  • Fast 16 bit SigmaDelta ADC
  • 3.2 MHz sampling frequency per channel
  • 1.2 MHz analogue bandwidth

    - ICP® current supply

Temperature Board 1.6 kHz

The ROTEC temperature board supports type J, K and T TCs with further types being implemented upon request. Pt100/1000 RTDs can be used both in 2-wire as well as in 4-wire configuration.
The front panel is fitted with a Lemo connector. An adapter with screw connectors is provided for connection of sensor lines and for thermoelements type specific plug connectors. Custom-made adapters are available.

  • 8 channels
    - Sampling rate per channel: 6-800 Hz
  • 4 channels
    - Sampling rate per channel: 6-1600 Hz
  • Temperature range: - 200°C to 850°C     
  • Coupling:
    - 2-wire configuration for Pt100/1000 and thermo couples
    - 4-wire configuration for Pt100/1000
  • Supported sensors:
    - Pt 100/1000
    - Type J thermocouples (Fe/CuNi)
    - Type K thermocouples (NiCr/CrAl)
    - Type T thermocouples (Cu/CuNi)
  • Precision*:   ± 0.1°C
  • Resolution:  TC: 0.1°C and Pt100/1000: 0.01°C

RAS delta is the first ROTEC front-end series, which brings fully integrated and synchronous CAN bus data acquisition capabilities. The 2-channel CAN card integrates two CAN 2.0 channels into the RAS delta front-end.
